Delaware State Police Investigating Attempted Robbery of Tobacco Store- New Castle

New Castle– Delaware State Police are investigating the attempted robbery of a New Castle area tobacco store that occurred yesterday morning.

The incident occurred at approximately 9:35 a.m., Wednesday, October 13, 2021, at the Misty Tobacco Land store, located at 135 Christiana Road, New Castle, when troopers responded for a report of a robbery. Investigation determined a male suspect entered the store and confronted a male employee behind the sales counter. The suspect passed a note across the counter that displayed “Give me the money”. The employee advised the store just opened and they didn’t have any money. The suspect then demanded the money again, but this time he lifted his shirt exposing a firearm tucked in his waistband. After the victim did not comply, the suspect fled the store on foot towards the Rambleton Acres neighborhood. The employee was not injured as a result of the incident.

The suspect was described as a white male approximately 20-30 years of age, 5’8” tall, wearing all dark clothing.
