Bear- Delaware State Police have arrested 23-year-old Najee Chambers and 22-year-old Damir Reed both of Middletown, DE for robbery and related charges following an incident that occurred in the parking lot of Wawa in Bear.
The incident occurred on October 12, 2021, at approximately 3:00 p.m., when troopers were dispatched to Wawa located at 3601 Wrangle Hill Road, Bear, for a report of a robbery. Upon arrival, it was determined that a 20-year-old male victim met with two suspects, later identified as Najee Chambers and Damir Reed in the parking lot of the business to sell two pairs of sneakers. During the transaction one suspect displayed a firearm and demanded the sneakers. The victim complied and gave the sneakers to the suspect. The second suspect also threatened to kill the victim and demanded all his money. The victim advised he did not have any cash, so the suspects fled the scene in a Dodge Dart.
Through investigative leads troopers identified Najee Chambers and Damir Reed as the suspects. Later that evening, Chambers and Reed were located operating the suspect vehicle. A traffic stop was initiated on East Cole Boulevard in Middletown, and both suspects were taken into custody without incident.
Chambers was transported to Troop 2 where he was charged with the following crimes:
- Robbery 1st Degree (Felony)
- Conspiracy 2nd Degree (Felony)
Chambers was arraigned in the Justice of the Peace Court #11 and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $102,000 cash bond.
Reed was transported to Troop 2 where he was charged with the following crimes:
- Robbery 1st Degree (Felony)
- Conspiracy 2nd Degree (Felony)
- Terroristic Threatening
Reed was arraigned in the Justice of the Peace Court #11 and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $103,000 cash bond.
