Lewes Man Arrested for Felony Assault – Lewes

Lewes, DE- Delaware State Police arrested a Lewes man for felony assault after he assaulted a male acquaintance.

On July 25, 2021, at approximately 10:27 a.m., Michael A. Fitzgerald, 39, of Lewes, DE, approached a 48-year-old male from Lewes in the 23000 block of Martin Lane, Lewes. Fitzgerald and the male victim got into an argument about money, which escalated to Fitzgerald striking the male victim multiple times in the face. The male victim was treated at Beebe Memorial Hospital for serious physical injuries. The investigation identified Fitzgerald as the assailant, and he was taken into custody at his residence by Troopers without incident. 

Fitzgerald was transported to Delaware State Police Troop 7, where he was charged with Assault 2nd Degree (Felony). Fitzgerald was arraigned in the Justice of the Peace Court #3, and released on his own recognizance.
