Troopers Arrest Maryland Man for Robberies- Rehoboth Beach

Rehoboth Beach, DE- Delaware State Police arrested Quintaze L. Gross, 39, of Centreville, MD, for robbery and related charges following an incident late Thursday night in Rehoboth Beach.

On June 24, 2021, at approximately 11:31 p.m., a 59-year-old male victim from Rehoboth Beach was at the Merrill Lynch Wealth Management Office ATM machine, located at 18949 Coastal Highway, Rehoboth Beach. While preparing his transaction at the ATM machine, Quintaze L. Gross, walked up behind him, put him in a choke hold, and advised the victim he wanted money and threatened to shoot him. The victim was able to get out of the choke hold after struggling with Gross for a short period of time. Gross allowed the victim to respond back to the ATM and finish his transaction and recover his bank card. Gross continued to threaten and demand money from the victim. When the victim showed Gross he did not have any money, he was able to make his way to his vehicle and sit in the driver’s seat. Gross removed the change holder from the victim’s vehicle before spilling it all over the floorboard. He then grabbed the victim’s two cellphone and keys from the ignition and attempted to flee. The victim grabbed Gross’ shirt as he began to run from the scene but he was unable to restrain him. A witness passing by saw the incident and chased Gross. He was able to recover the victim’s cellphones and keys.

Troopers apprehended Gross around 11:48 p.m. as he was walking southbound on Coastal Highway, Rehoboth Beach. He was transported to Troop 4 where further investigation by detectives revealed he was also involved in another robbery that occurred on June 16, 2021. It is alleged that Quintaze Gross entered the Anchorage Inn located at 18809 Coastal Highway, Rehoboth Beach, around 9:34 p.m. that evening and requested change from the male front desk clerk. Gross watched as the clerk obtained the money from a different area in the motel. When the clerk returned, Gross asked for a different variation of money. As the clerk went to obtain the money, Gross followed and shoved the clerk to the ground before grabbing a bank bag. A physical altercation ensued between the clerk and Gross before the he fled with an undisclosed amount of money. The clerk did not require medical attention.

Quintaze Gross was charged with the following:

  • Robbery First Degree (Felony)
  • Robbery Second Degree (Felony)
  • Theft Under $1,500
  • Resisting Arrest
  • Offensive Touching
  • Menacing

Gross was arraigned in the Justice of the Peace Court #3 and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on a $27,200.00 secured bond.
