Dover Woman Arrested by Troopers for Threatening Individuals with a Weapon- Dover

Dover, DE- Delaware State Police arrested Shelva Smith, 33, of Dover, on criminal charges following an incident Monday afternoon in Dover.

On June 7, 2021, at approximately 4:45 p.m., Delaware State Police responded to a residence on Lingo Drive for a criminal mischief complaint. During the investigation, troopers learned an altercation had occurred between Smith and a 33-year-old female and a 42-year-old male outside the home. During the altercation, Smith responded to her vehicle and retrieved a 9mm handgun. She then returned to where the victims were standing and threatened to harm them with the weapon before they fled the area in a vehicle. No one was injured during the altercation. 

Smith was located at her residence and taken into custody without incident. She was transported to Troop 3, where she was charged with the following crimes:

  • Aggravated Menacing (Felony)
  • Terroristic Threatening
  • Disorderly Conduct

She was arraigned in the Justice of the Peace Court #7 and released on her own recognizance.
