Greenwood Man Arrested on Weapon and Traffic Charges- Greenwood

Greenwood, DE- Delaware State Police arrested Kevin J. Drummond, 57, of Greenwood, on weapon and traffic charges following a traffic stop early Sunday morning.

On June 6, 2021, at approximately 1:53 a.m., a trooper was patrolling the area of Beach Highway and Mennonite School Road when he observed a blue Hyundai Elantra traveling westbound on Beach Highway driving on the shoulder of the roadway. A traffic stop was initiated on the vehicle, and contact was made with the driver, Kevin J. Drummond. A strong odor of alcoholic beverages was detected emanating from Drummond, and a DUI investigation ensued. During the investigation, located on Drummond was a concealed loaded .380 handgun with a loaded magazine. Additionally, during a search of Drummond’s vehicle, a Mossberg 12 gauge shotgun, Taurus G2 9mm handgun, four Federal 12 gauge shotgun shells, one handgun magazine with six .380 rounds, one empty handgun magazine, and 11 Hornady critical defense 9mm rounds were located.

Drummond was transported to Troop 5 without incident and charged with the following:

  • Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon (Felony)
  • Possession of a Firearm While Under the Influence
  • Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol
  • Failure to Remain Within a Single Lane

Drummond was arraigned in the Justice of the Peace Court #2 and released on a $5,550.00 unsecured bond.
