Dover Man Arrested for Burglary and Related Charges- Hartly

Hartly- Delaware State Police arrested a Hartly man on burglary and related charges following an incident late Tuesday night.

On May 18, 2021, at approximately 10:30 p.m., troopers responded to a burglary at a residence on Loxley Lane, Hartly. When troopers arrived, they made contact with the 28-year-old female victim. The female said she and her two young children were sitting in the living room when an acquaintance of hers, Jorge Valladares, 36, of Dover, arrived at her residence. Mr. Valladares was upset with the victim, and he kicked open the door causing it to break and glass to fly into the house, hitting her and her children. Mr. Valladares then picked up a glass vase inside the residence and smashed it on the ground, causing more glass to fall on her and the children before he grabbed the victim by the arms and pushed her into a wall before he fled the residence. While conducting their investigation, troopers learned Mr. Valladares had stolen money from the female victim earlier during the day, but the theft was not reported to the police. Approximately two hours after the incident occurred, Mr. Valladares returned to the residence and was arrested. The female victim and her children did not require medical treatment.

Mr. Valladares was transported to Troop 3, where he was charged with the following crimes:

  • Burglary 1st Degree (Felony)
  • Theft Under $1,500
  • Two counts- Endangering the Welfare of a Child
  • Criminal Mischief
  • Offensive Touching

Mr. Valladares was arraigned in the Justice of the Peace Court #7 and released on his own recognizance.
