Camden Man Dies in Motorcycle Crash- Harrington

Harrington- Delaware State Police is investigating a fatal crash that claimed the life of a 22-year-old Camden, DE, man.

On May 20, 2021, at approximately 5:33 p.m., a 1998 Yamaha YZF sport style motorcycle was traveling southbound on S. DuPont Highway in the right lane approaching State Fair Boulevard. A brown 2017 Buick Encore was stopped at the posted stop sign on State Fair Boulevard, preparing to cross the southbound lanes of S. DuPont Highway and enter the median crossover to travel northbound. Due to the extreme rate of speed by the motorcycle, the operator of the Buick was unable to perceive the motorcycle and began to crossover the southbound travel lanes. The Yamaha struck the left side of the Buick on the left rear passenger door, causing the Buick to rotate nearly 180 degrees before coming to rest. After impact, the operator of the motorcycle came to rest in the left travel lane.

The operator of the motorcycle was a 22-year-old male of Camden. He was transported to a nearby hospital, where he died. Identification is pending notification to next of kin.
