Delaware State Police Arrest Newport Man on Weapon Charges After Traffic Stop- Newark

Newark- Delaware State Police arrested 34-year-old Marvin Davis of Newport, DE, on weapon charges following a traffic stop Sunday night.

On March 14, 2021, at approximately 9:30 PM, a trooper on routine patrol on Churchmans Road in the area of Geoffrey Drive observed a white Mercury sedan operating on the roadway with improper registration. A traffic stop was initiated, and contact was made with the operator and sole occupant, Marvin Davis. During contact the trooper observed a firearm concealed under the leg of Davis. Davis who is a person prohibited was taken into custody without incident, and the loaded 9mm handgun was recovered.

Davis was transported to Troop 6, where he was charged with the following crimes:

  • Possession of a Firearm by Person Prohibited (Felony)
  • Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon (Felony)
  • Failure to Transfer Title and Registration

Davis was arraigned in the Justice of the Peace Court #11 and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $20,001.00 cash bond.
