Wilmington- Delaware State Police arrested 31-year-old Anthony Hardman of Wilmington, DE, on weapon and drug charges following a traffic stop on a suspicious vehicle Thursday night.

On March 4, 2021, at approximately 11:26 p.m., a trooper working patrol observed a black Hyundai Sonata with its lights on in the parking lot of Bonsall Park located at 3000 Silverside Road, Wilmington. The park is closed after dusk, so the trooper stopped to check on the suspicious vehicle. Upon contact with the operator, identified as Anthony Hardman, the trooper smelled an odor of marijuana emitting from inside the vehicle and an investigation ensued. A probable cause search was conducted, and the trooper discovered a loaded Taurus 9mm handgun concealed on Hardman, and approximately 1.3 grams of marijuana.

Hardman was taken into custody without incident and transported to Troop 1 where he was charged with the following crimes:

• Possession of a Deadly Weapon by Person Prohibited (Felony)
• Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon (Felony)
• Possession of Marijuana (civil)

Hardman was arraigned in the Justice of the Peace Court #11 and posted bail on $7,600 cash bond.
