Harrington Man Arrested on Criminal and Weapon Charge Following an Attempted Burglary Investigation- Harrington

Harrington– Delaware State Police arrested 47-year-old Michael J. Jopp of Harrington on criminal charges following an incident that occurred on February 27, 2021.

On February 27, 2021, Delaware State Police responded to Yellow Wood Drive, Harrington, for a reported Attempted Burglary to a detached shed and theft of a security camera from outside a residence. Through investigative measures, troopers identified the suspect as Michael J. Jopp, who also resides within the same development.  On March 2, 2021, Jopp was taken into custody without incident, and a lawful search warrant of his residence was conducted. Located inside the residence, in addition to the stolen property, was an AK-47 style rifle. Jopp was transported to Troop 3, where he was charged with the following crimes:

•Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited (Felony)
•Attempted Burglary 3rd Degree (Felony)
•Theft Under $1,500

Jopp was arraigned in the Justice of the Peace Court #2 and was committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on a $10,000.00 secured bond for the weapon charge.  His bond for the Attempted Burglary 3rd Degree and Theft charges was $2,500.00 unsecured.
