Delaware State Police Investigating Shooting Incident- Dover

Dover- Delaware State Police are investigating a shooting incident that occurred early this morning and left one man wounded.

The incident occurred on February 28, 2021, at approximately 12:49 a.m., when troopers were dispatched to Oasis Hookah Lounge located 4115 North DuPont Highway, Dover, in reference to a shooting. Investigation has determined a 23-year-old male was walking to his vehicle in the parking lot when multiple gunshots were fired. Subsequently, the victim was shot once in the upper extremity. The victim was transported to a local area hospital and treated for a gunshot wound.

There is no suspect information at this time and no other reported injuries.

Delaware State Police Issue Gold Alert for Missing Smyrna Woman – Smyrna

Smyrna – Delaware State Police Troop 9 is issuing a Gold Alert for 28-year-old Shannon Muscheck of Smyrna. Shannon was last seen on Saturday, February 27, 2021, at approximately 7:45 p.m. on foot in the Smyrna area.  Attempts to contact Shannon have been unsuccessful and there is a concern for her safety and wellbeing.

Shannon is described as a white female, 5’06” tall, approximately 160 lbs., with blue eyes and brown hair.  She was last seen wearing a black and gray plaid shirt, gray sweatpants and Ugg boots.

Delaware State Police Arrest Three Dagsboro Individuals on Drug and Related Charges- Dagsboro

Dagsboro- Delaware State Police concluded a several month long drug investigation that resulted in three individuals being arrested on felony drug and related charges.

On February 25th, 2021, the Delaware State Police concluded a several month long criminal drug investigation involving 43-year-old Antonio A. Drummond of Dagsboro. A lawful search warrant was conducted at his residence located on Dagsboro Road. Also taken into custody as a result of the investigation was a 17-year-old male of Dagsboro and 59-year-old Cheryl Drummond of Dagsboro. During the execution of the search warrant, the following items were located:

• Approximately 11.29 grams of cocaine
• Approximately 159.09 grams of marijuana
• Approximately 18.11 grams of heroin
• Approximately 13.951 grams of heroin (1993 bags)
• $44,311.00 in suspected drug proceeds
• (4) 12 gauge shotguns
• (1) muzzle loader
• (1) Colt .25 cal handgun
• Multiple articles of drug paraphernalia

A. Drummond and the 17-year-old male were taken into custody without incident during a traffic stop and C. Drummond was taken into custody at the residence.

  • Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

The 17-year-old male was arraigned in the Justice of the Peace Court and released on his own recognizance.

Delaware State Police Investigating Fatal Motor Vehicle Collision- Wilmington

Wilmington – Delaware State Police are investigating a fatal motor vehicle collision that was discovered Thursday afternoon.

On February 25, 2021, at approximately 2:17 p.m., DELDOT personnel were working on I-495 in the area of Edgemoor Road when they noticed damage to a section of guardrail on the right side of northbound I-495. After further inspection, the DELDOT personnel discovered a 2009 Ford F-150 approximately 200-300 feet off the roadway and down a steep embankment in the area of the damaged guardrail and they contacted the Delaware State Police.

The investigation determined on February 17, 2021, at approximately 11:53 p.m., the Ford was traveling northbound on I-495 in the area of Edgemoor Road. For unknown reasons, the vehicle veered off the roadway and the front collided with the guardrail.  After impact, the Ford traveled down a steep embankment and overturned multiple times before coming to rest in an area of overbrown brush. The 65-year-old male operator of Chester, PA, was located in the vehicle at the time of the investigation and was pronounced deceased at the scene.  Identification of the victim is pending notification to next of kin.

Troopers Investigating Fatal Crash Involving an Off-Highway Vehicle- Dover

Dover- Delaware State Police are conducting a fatal crash involving an off-highway vehicle that occurred Wednesday night.

On February 24, 2021, at approximately 9:08 p.m., a Honda CRF-450 Dirt Bike operated by a 33-year-old male of Dover, was traveling northbound on Peachtree Run approaching the intersection of Vanessa Drive. A silver 2011 Hyundai Sonata operated by a 21-year-old male of Dover was traveling southbound on Peachtree Run, approaching Vanessa Drive and preparing to make a left turn onto Vanessa Drive.  The Hyundai proceeded to make the left turn onto Vanessa Drive and the right quarter panel was struck by the front of the dirt bike.

The Honda CRF-450 Dirt Bike is an off-highway vehicle, and is not street legal. It was not equipped with any lighting source (headlights, taillights, or reflective material).

The Hyundai came to stop shortly after the collision at the entrance to Vanessa Drive and remained on scene.  The operator was not injured during the collision.

The operator of the Honda was transported to a nearby hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. Identification of victim is pending notification to next of kin.

Troopers Arrest Wilmington Man for Theft of a Motor Vehicle – Newark

Newark – The Delaware State Police have arrested 38-year-old David Smith of Wilmington, in connection with the theft of a motor vehicle.

The incident occurred on February 24, 2021 at approximately 5:28 p.m., when troopers were dispatched to Harmony Plaza shopping center located at 4146 Ogletown Stanton Road, Newark, in reference to a stolen motor vehicle.  Upon arrival, troopers contacted a 31-year-old male who advised he pulled in front of the Tokyo Express restaurant to pick up food and left his vehicle running. Upon returning to his 2008 Buick Lucerne he observed it was missing. Through investigative means the stolen vehicle was located occupied in a parking lot on the 900 block of Franklin Street, Wilmington. Troopers initiated a car stop and took the operator, identified as David Smith and front seat passenger a 34-year-old male of New Castle, into custody without incident. Troopers performed a search incident to arrest of the vehicle and discovered multiple items of drug paraphernalia.

Smith was transported back to Troop 6 where he was processed and charged with Theft of a Motor Vehicle (Felony) and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Smith was arraigned before the Justice of the Peace Court #11 and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $700.00 secured bond.

The 34-year-old male suspect was released with a criminal summons for Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
