Wilmington – Delaware State Police have arrested 27-year-old Rodney Woods of Philadelphia, PA and 26-year-old Amir Williams of Philadelphia, PA on Identity Theft, and other related charges.
On December 16, 2020 at approximately 1:10 p.m., Troopers responded to Giant located at 4301 Concord Pike, Wilmington, DE, for a theft of two purses. Upon arrival, Troopers made contact with two victims, an 85-year-old female and an 83-year-old female both of Wilmington, who advised their wallets were taken from their shopping carts as their backs were turned. Both wallets contained several credit cards and identification cards.
Through investigative means, troopers were able to locate the suspects exiting the Target located at 1050 Brandywine Parkway, Wilmington, DE. Troopers observed the suspects walk across the parking lot carrying shopping bags. Once the suspects entered their vehicle, Troopers made contact with the suspects, identified as Rodney Woods and Amir Williams, and took them into custody without incident. Troopers recovered over $1,200 in gift cards purchased from Target and over $3,700 of Apple products purchased at Best Buy using the stolen credit cards.
The suspects were transported to Troop 1 charged with the following:
Rodney Woods
- Identity Theft (F) – 2 counts
- Theft Under $1500 (Victim 62 years of age or older) (F) – 2 counts
- Theft $1500 or Greater (F)
- Conspiracy 2nd Degree (F)
- Theft Under $1,500
Woods was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court #11 and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $29,000 cash bond.
Amir Williams
- Identity Theft (F) – 2 counts
- Theft $1500 or Greater (F)
- Conspiracy 2nd Degree (F)
- Theft Under $1,500
- Receiving Stolen Property
Williams was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court #11 and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $26,000 cash bond.
While in custody Woods and Williams were connected to two other similar incidents and charged appropriately.
