Date Posted: Thursday, December 10th, 2020

Felton- Delaware State Police arrested 27-year-old Shacore Williams of Felton on felony criminal charges following a pursuit Wednesday afternoon.

On December 9, 2020, at approximately 4:00 p.m., troopers on patrol in the area of South DuPont Highway and Reeves Crossing Road observed the operator of a 2020 Nissan Altima traveling eastbound on Reeves Crossing, not wearing his seatbelt. The operator was later identified as Shacore Williams. A traffic stop was initiated, and contact was made with Williams. Upon making contact with Williams, an odor of Marijuana was detected coming from the vehicle’s interior. A criminal investigation ensued, and Williams was requested to exit the vehicle multiple times but failed to comply. As a trooper reached in to unlock the car and open the driver’s side door, William started to close his driver’s window and accelerated his vehicle, dragging the trooper for approximately 2 feet before the trooper could free himself, and a vehicle pursuit was initiated. Williams disregarded the red light at the intersection on Reeves Crossing Road at South DuPont Highway and continued traveling eastbound onto Killens Pond Road at speeds greater than the posted speed limit. In the 4800 block of Killens Pond Road, Williams lost control of his vehicle, struck a mailbox, and continued traveling eastbound through a field before coming to a stop and taken into custody without further incident. During the pursuit, Williams discarded a Glock .45 cal. semiautomatic handgun containing ten rounds of ammunition within 1,000 feet of a school that he had concealed inside the vehicle.

The trooper did not require medical attention.

Williams was transported to Troop 3, where he was charged with the following crimes:

  • Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon (Felony)
  • Reckless Endangering 1st Degree (Felony)
  • Possession of a Weapon in a School Zone (Felony)
  • Disregarding a Police Officer Signal (Felony)
  • Resisting Arrest
  • Malicious Mischief by a Motor Vehicle
  • Seatbelt Violation
  • Speeding in Excess of Posted Limit

Williams was arraigned in the Justice of the Peace Court #2 and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on a $22,003.00 cash bond.
