Troopers Arrest Newark Man on Drugs and Weapons Charges – Newark

Newark- The Delaware State Police arrested 23-year-old Tyrone Waters Jr. of Newark, DE on drugs and weapons charges after he displayed a handgun in the parking lot of a local store.

The incident occurred on September 15, 2020, at approximately 11:19 p.m., when Troopers responded to the Royal Farms located at 865 South Old Baltimore Pike, Newark, for a suspect who displayed a handgun in the parking lot. Troopers made contact with Waters inside of the store and performed a pat down for any potential weapons. Waters immediately resisted and attempted to run from Troopers. Waters was quickly apprehended and taken into custody. A subsequent probable cause search led to the discovery of a .38 caliber handgun loaded with six rounds. Further investigation, Troopers learned Waters vehicle was parked at the gas pump. An inventory search prior to the vehicle being towed led to the discovery of approximately .133 grams of heroin, and approximately 6.61 grams of marijuana.

Waters was transported back to Troop 2 where he was charged with the following:

  • Possession of  a Deadly Weapon By Person Prohibit Who Also Possesses Controlled Substance (Felony)
  • Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon (Felony)
  • Resisting Arrest
  • Possession of a Controlled Substance
  • Possession of Marijuana

Waters was arraigned before the Justice of the Peace Court #11 and released after posting bail on $11,500.00 secured bond.
