Date Posted: Thursday, August 13th, 2020

Ellendale- The Delaware State Police arrested 37-year-old TYSHIA J. COURSEY on multiple counts of reckless endangering after she attempted to strike several victims with her vehicle.

The incident occurred on August 12, 2020, at approximately 9:05 a.m., when Troopers were dispatched to a residence in the 13000 block of S. Old State RD, Ellendale, for a report of trespass incident.  Upon arrival it was learned that Coursey had responded to the residence and began banging on the front door.  Coursey made contact with a 48-year-old female acquaintance of hers when a verbal argument ensued outside the residence.  Coursey then advised the female that she was going to fight with her daughters when they arrived home.  Shortly after, the four daughters, ages 23-32 arrived at the residence and Coursey attempted to engage in a physical altercation.  Coursey then proceeded to drive in circles in her vehicle, almost striking several parked cars as well as the four females.  During this incident, Coursey’s 7 month old child was in the rear seat of the vehicle.  Coursey left the residence prior to police arrival.  There were no reports of injury as a result of this incident.

Coursey responded to Troop 7 where she was taken into custody without incident and charged with the following:

  • Reckless Endanger First Degree (Felony) (4 counts)
  • Endangering the Welfare of a Child
  • Criminal Trespass Third Degree

Coursey was arraigned before the Justice of the Peace Court and released on her own recognizance.
