Traffic Stop Leads to Drug and Weapon Charges- Dagsboro

Dagsboro– The Delaware State Police arrested 62-year-old IVORY L. SAULS of Harrington, DE, after a traffic stop led to the discovery of a handgun and drugs.

The incident occurred on July 20, 2020 at approximately 7:06 p.m., when a Trooper observed a white 2012 GMC Acadia traveling westbound on Bunting Road.  A computer inquiry revealed that the owner/driver, identified as Ivory Sauls had an expired driver’s license.  A traffic stop was initiated and contact was made with Sauls.

A consent to search the vehicle was provided, when the Trooper discovered a loaded .38 special handgun concealed in the glove compartment along with drug paraphernalia. The weapon was loaded with 5 rounds and an addition 5 rounds were located in a gun magazine holder. Sauls was also found in possession of (7) Oxycodone pills.

Sauls was taken into custody without incident and transported back to Troop 5 where he was charged with the following:

  • Possession of a Deadly Weapon By Person Prohibited Who Also Possesses Controlled Substance (Felony)
  • Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon (Felony)
  • Possession of a Controlled or Counterfeit Substance
  • Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
  • Driving With Expired License

Sauls was arraigned before the Justice of the Peace Court and released on  $5500.00 unsecured bond.
