Troopers Arrest Georgetown Man for Promoting Prostitution- Georgetown

Georgetown- The Delaware State Police arrested 33-year-old ISMEAL AYALA for promoting prostitution following an investigation into a commercial sex ring.

Over the past two weeks, DSP Troop 4, Major Crimes Unit and DSP Intelligence have been investigating a suspected Hispanic brothel located at a residence in the 28000 block of Shortly Road, Georgetown. Through further investigations it was learned that a large scale commercial sex ring was operating at this residence.

On July 14, 2020, Troop 4 Major Crimes Unit with support from DSP Intel, Troop 4 Governor’s Task Force (GTF) and Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), obtained and executed a search warrant at the residence. Two Hispanic female victims were contacted at the residence.  A search of the property revealed obvious signs of a commercial sex operation and approximately $1700.00 in suspected illegal proceeds was located.

Ayala was taken into custody at the residence without incident and transported back to Troop 4 where he was charged with the following:

  • Promoting Prostitution Second Degree (Felony)
  • Conspiracy Second Degree (Felony)

Ayala was arraigned before the Justice of the Peace Court and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $16000.00 cash only bond.

Due to the nature and sensitivity of this case, and in consideration of the victims, only limited information will be released.  Both victims received assistance from Victim Services.

The investigation continues to remain active and ongoing for protentional other suspect(s) who may have participated in the running of the brothel.
