Troopers Arrest Townsend Man for Burglary and Theft- Clayton

Clayton– The Delaware State Police have arrested 29-year-old Barry D. Reece of Townsend for Burglary and felony theft after he attempted to sell the stolen property from the burglary on Craigslist.

Between June 22 and 28, 2020, Reece entered a property located in the 3800 block of Holletts Corner Rd., Clayton, and removed property totaling approximately $8,743.00. On June 28, 2020, items stolen were discovered listed for sale on Craigslist by a family member of the 29-year-old owner of the property. Arrangements were made with Reece, and the stolen items were recovered during two separate meetings with Reece. Troopers responded with the property owner during the second meeting with Reece and took him into custody without incident.

Reece was transported to Troop 9 where he was charged with the following crimes:

  • Burglary 3rd Degree (felony)
  • Theft Greater than $5,000 (felony)

Reece was arraigned in the Justice of the Peace Court and released on a $3,000.00 unsecured bond.
