Date Posted: Monday, June 15th, 2020

Harrington–  The Delaware State Police arrested 55-year-old JEANNE D. ZEBLEY for two counts of aggravated menacing and related charges.

The incident occurred on June 14, 2020, at approximately 4:30 p.m., when Troopers were dispatched to the 700 block of Messicks Road,
Harington, for a report of shots being fired.  Upon arrival, it was learned that a 12-year-old juvenile was riding his three wheeler in a field adjacent to Zebley’s property.   Zebley exited her home holding a rifle and pointed it in the direction of the victim, while firing at least two rounds.  The victim responded home and notified his stepfather.  The stepfather responded to Zebley’s residence, when he was confronted by Zebley who was still holding the rifle.  Zebley pointed the weapon at the stepfather and pulled the trigger, however no round was discharged.  Neither victim sustained injury as a result of this incident.

Zebley was taken into custody at her residence without incident.  She was transported back to Troop 3 where she was charged with the following:

  • Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony
  • Aggravated Menacing- Felony (2 counts)
  • Reckless Endangering Second Degree

Zebley was arraigned before the Justice of the Peace Court and released on $22500.00 unsecured bond.
