*UPDATE* Troopers Investigating Serious Crash on Pulaski Hwy (Rt 40)- Newark

Newark- The Delaware State Police are investigating a crash involving two vehicles that occurred on June 3, 2020 at 3:56 p.m. on Pulaski Highway (US 40) at Pleasant Valley Road.

The investigation revealed a gray 2009 Ford Escape operated by an 18-year-old female was turning left onto Pleasant Valley Road from eastbound Pulaski Highway (US 40). A silver Mazda 3 operated by a 29-year-old man from Elkton, MD was traveling westbound on Pulaski Highway (US 40). The Ford Escape had a green arrow and entered the intersection. The Mazda 3 passed stopped cars on westbound Pulaski Highway, disregarding the red light, entered the intersection and struck the Ford Escape. After the crash, the vehicles came to rest in the intersection with the Ford Escape rolling onto its driver’s side. The operator of the Mazda 3 was transported to a local area hospital where he was pronounced deceased as a result of injuries not related to the accident.

The operator of the Ford Escape and two additional occupants, an 18 year old female from Camden-Wyoming and a 16- year-old female from Middletown were transported to a local hospital where they were treated and released.
