Troopers Arrest Milford Man for Aggravated Menacing-Milford

Milford- The Delaware State Police have arrested 55-year-old David A. Tyler for aggravated menacing and weapon charges following a domestic related incident.

The incident occurred on May 26, 2020 at approximately 5:46 p.m., when Troopers were dispatched to a residence in the 100 block of Pritchett Rd., Milford, for a report of a domestic incident involving a weapon.  Upon arrival, Troopers met with a 51-year-old female victim who advised that her boyfriend, David Tyler, had being drinking heavily, when a verbal altercation ensued.  During the argument, Tyler proceeded to obtain his .22 rifle from his gun cabinet and began loading it.  Tyler then pointed the rifle at the victim while threatening to kill her and their 31-year-old son who was also present.  The victims exited the residence and Tyler proceeded to follow, when he fired several rounds in the air and within close proximity to the victims.  Also present during this incident was the couples 10-year-old child.  The victims were able to flee the residence unharmed.

Troopers made contact with Tyler at the residence where he was taken into custody without incident.  He was transported back to Troop 3 where he was charged with the following:

  • Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony
  •  Aggravated Menacing (2 counts) Felony
  •  Reckless Endanger First Degree-Felony
  •  Terroristic Threatening (2 counts)
  • Endangering the Welfare of a Child
  • Possession of a Firearm while under the influence

Tyler was arraigned before the Justice of the Peace Court and committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution on $28000.00 secured bond.
