Clayton Man Arrested for Active Warrant and Drug Charges Following Motor Vehicle Accident- Dover

Dover– Delaware State Police arrest a Clayton man wanted for Burglary and on drug-related charges following a motor vehicle accident.

On May 11, 2020, at approximately 11:35 a.m., Troopers were dispatched to a motor vehicle collision on Pearsons Corner Rd., Dover. Upon arrival, Troopers learned a passenger in one of the vehicles involved in the accident had fled the scene after the accident. During a search of the area, Troopers located 37-year-old Joseph J. Kleinen of Clayton, matching the description of the subject that fled the scene on Pearsons Corner Road in the area of Dinahs Corner Road. Contact was made with Kleinen, who was located in the driveway of a vacant residence with a bag in his possession. A check through the computer database revealed he was wanted by the Delaware State Police Troop 3 for Burglary 2nd Degree and related charges. Kleinen was taken into custody without incident, and during a search, incident to arrest, located in Kleinen’s bag was drug paraphernalia and several baggies with a crystal substance determined to be methamphetamine weighing approximately 23.4 grams.

Kleinen was transported to Troop 9 where he was charged with the crimes from the incident on May 11th and the crimes from the active warrant:

  • Possession with Intent to Deliver Controlled Substance (felony)
  • Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
  • Burglary 2nd Degree (felony)
  • Theft over $1,500 (felony)
  • Criminal Mischief over $1,000
  • Conspiracy 2nd Degree (felony)

Kleinen was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court and Released on Own Recognizance.
