Troopers Arrest Midland TX, Man on Weapons Charges-Dover

Dover- The Delaware State Police have arrested 29-year-old Anthony Stanzak of Midland, TX on multiple weapons charges.

The incident occurred on May 10, 2020 at approximately 9:19 a.m., when Troopers were dispatched to the 4000 block of Vermont Drive, Dover, in reference to a verbal domestic.  Upon arrival, it was learned that Stanzak responded to this location in his vehicle to confront his ex-girlfriend.  During his interaction with her, he indicated that he had a firearm inside of his vehicle and was refusing to leave her residence.

Troopers made contact with Stanzak who was still parked at the residence.  Stanzak advised Troopers that he did have a weapon inside the vehicle.  A computer inquiry revealed that Stanzak was a person prohibited from possessing a firearm.  A search warrant was obtained for Stanzak’s vehicle.  During the search, an AR rifle along with a sawed off shotgun and 40 rounds of ammunition was recovered.  Also present in the vehicle was Stanzak’s five year old child.

Stanzak was taken into custody without incident and transported back to Troop 3 where he was charged with the following:

  • Possession of Firearm/Destructive Weapon If Previously Convicted of A Violent Felony (2 counts)
  • Possession of a Firearm or Ammunition by a Person Prohibited Prior Violent Crime or Felony
  • Possession of Destructive Weapon – Sawed Off Shotgun
  • Endangering the Welfare of a Child

Stanzak was arraigned before the Justice of the Peace Court and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $26500.00 secured bond.
