*UPDATE* Barricaded Subject In Custody-New Castle

New Castle – A wanted subject who barricaded himself inside a New Castle area residence early Thursday morning has been taken in to custody.

At approximately 6:13 a.m., Thursday, January 30, 2020 Troopers executed a search warrant at a residence located in the unit block of Bunker Hill Rd., in the Penn Acres South development of New Castle in regards to a wanted subject who was believed to be inside. The subject refused to surrender and subsequently barricaded himself inside the residence.

The Delaware State Police Special Operations Response Team and Conflict Management Teams attempted to establish communications with the male subject in an attempt to persuade him to surrender. When communications failed gas was deployed inside the residence facilitating the apprehension of the subject.

A heavy police presence remains at the residence and in the area as part of the ongoing investigation.
