Date Posted: Saturday, January 18th, 2020

Newark– The Delaware State Police have arrested 33-year-old Jessica Y. Sachs for two counts of aggravated menacing after she threatened her ex-boyfriend and his female friend with a knife.

The incident occurred on January 17, 2020 at approximately 6:30 p.m., when a 33-year-old male reported that he and a 39-year-old female had just exited the Cinemark Christiana Theater, Christiana, and were entering their vehicle.  The male victim reported that he was suddenly struck in the back by a door of a vehicle that was parked directly next to him.  As the male victim turned around he realized that it was his ex-girlfriend, Jessica Sachs.  Sachs proceeded to enter the male victim’s vehicle and threatened him and the female with a large knife.  The male victim was able to gain control of the knife and have Sachs exit his vehicle.  There were no injuries reported as a result of this incident.

Troopers located Sachs at her residence in the 200 block of  N. Bridlewood Drive, Newark and took her into custody without incident.  Sachs was transported back to Troop 6 where she was charged with the following:

  • Possession of a Deadly Weapon During the Commission of a Felony
  • Aggravated Menacing (2 counts)

Sachs was arraigned before the Justice of the Peace Court and committed to the Delores J. Baylor Women’s Correctional Institution on $8000.00 secured bond.
