Troopers Arrest Milford Man for Assault-Georgetown

Georgetown- The Delaware State Police have arrested 29-year-old Tyler C. Melvin for assault and related charges after he violated a no contact order.

On January 8, 2020, at approximately 10:00 a.m., Troopers were dispatched to the Beebe Medical Center in reference to a victim that had been assaulted.  Upon arrival, Troopers made contact with a 65-year-old male victim who advised that he was assaulted by Melvin on January 7, 2020 at approximately 10:00 p.m.  The victim indicated that Melvin had responded to his residence in the 22000 block of Sussex Pines Road, Georgetown, when an argument ensued.  The victim advised Melvin that there was a no contact order in place and he asked Melvin to leave the residence.  Melvin refused to leave the residence and proceeded to strike the victim in his face several times and choke him.  Melvin threatened the victim’s life and took his cell phone to hinder the victim from calling 911.  The victim was able to leave the residence the next morning and responded to the hospital, where he was treated with non-life threatening injuries.

Troopers responded to the victim’s residence and located Melvin still inside.  Melvin was taken into custody without incident and transported back to Troop 4 where he was charged with the following:
