Troopers Arrest Three for Felony Resisting Arrest and Offensive Touching of Law Enforcement Officer – New Castle

Date Posted: Thursday, January 2nd, 2020

New Castle – The Delaware State Police have arrested three subjects for felony resisting arrest and offensive touching of a law enforcement officer stemming from a fight at a New Castle area Wawa that occurred early New Year’s Day.

At approximately 4:36 a.m., Wednesday, January 1, 2020, Troopers were called to the Wawa located at 4000 N. DuPont Hwy., in reference to a fight in progress. Upon arrival on scene the first responding Trooper observed two females and one male subject actively fighting with other subjects in the parking lot. It was later learned that the male subject, who was heavily intoxicated, was initially disorderly inside the Wawa and when asked to leave by a private security guard, he refused and began to physically assault him. When other patrons attempted to intervene they too were assaulted. The altercation then spilled out into the parking lot which is when the Troopers arrived on scene.

The first Trooper attempted to restrain the male subject who was the obvious aggressor, however he refused to comply with verbal commands to stop and violently resisted arrest. As the Trooper was struggling with the male, the two females began pushing him in an attempt to free the male suspect. A second Trooper arrived on scene and began to assist the first Trooper and was also pushed by the female subjects. Additional units arrived on scene at which time all three subjects were taken into custody.

The male subject was identified as 28 year old Luis Henry of Wilmington. The females were identified as 44 year old Annette Henry, Luis’ mother, and 40 year old Dwightnette Wright, also of Wilmington. The three were transported to Troop 2 where they were charged with the following:

Luis Henry

  • Resisting Arrest with Force or Violence
  • Offensive Touching of a law Enforcement Officer
  • Menacing
  • Disorderly Conduct

Annette Henry and Dwightnette Wright

  • Resisting Arrest with Force or Violence
  • Offensive Touching of a Law Enforcement Officer
  • Assault 3rd Degree
  • Offensive Touching

Luis Henry was released on $1600.00 unsecured bail. Annette Henry and Wright were released on their own recognizance.
