Newark – The Delaware State Police are investigating the robbery of a Newark area bank that occurred just after noon today.
The incident occurred at approximately 12:18 p.m., Thursday, December 5, 2019 at the Citizen’s Bank branch located inside the University Plaza ACME grocery store. A male suspect approached a teller and presented a note which demanded money and also implied that the he was armed with a gun. The teller complied with the demand and turned over an undisclosed amount of cash to the suspect who then fled in an unknown direction. The teller was not injured as a result of the incident.
The suspect was described as a black male, 40-50 years of age, 5’10” tall, wearing a dark colored sweatshirt, with the hood drawn tight around his face. The suspect implied through the note that he possessed a gun, however none was ever displayed.
