Troopers Arrest Millsboro Man on Multiple Burglary and Theft Charges

Harbeson/Millsboro–  The Delaware State Police have arrested 33-year-old Thomas A. Mills Jr. in connection with multiple burglaries and related charges.

The incidents started in early November, 2019 when Troopers began investigating a rash of burglaries in the Harbeson and Millsboro areas.  Through investigative measures, Mills was identified as the suspect.  Warrants were obtained for Mills in connection with four burglaries.  Several attempts were made to apprehend Mills in which he fled and resisted arrest.   It was also learned that he was in violation of a no contact order with his girlfriend.

On November 24, 2019, at approximately 12:05 p.m., Troopers responded to Mills’s residence in the 23000 block of Hedley’s Way, Millsboro in an attempt to locate Mills.  Troopers received a consent to search the residence by Mills’s girlfriend.  Mills was subsequently located hiding in the residence and found in possession of drug paraphernalia.  He was taken into custody without further incident.

Mills was transported back to Troop 4 where he was charged with the following:

  • Burglary Second Degree
  • Attempt to Commit Burglary Third Degree (2 counts)
  • Resisting Arrest (3 counts)
  • Driving While Suspended or Revoked
  • Breach of Release (4 counts)
  • Criminal Trespass Third Degree (3 counts)
  • Burglary Third Degree
  • Possession of Burglar Tools (3 counts)
  • Theft (4 counts)
  • Attempted to Commit Theft (2 counts)
  • Criminal Mischief (2 counts)
  • Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

Mills was arraigned before the Justice of the Peace Court and committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution on $40,252 secured bond.
