Troopers Arrest Two for Burglary- Lewes

Date Posted: Sunday, November 3rd, 2019

Lewes- The Delaware State Police have arrested a husband and wife for burglary after they were found squatting in a residence.

The incident occurred on November 2, 2019 at approximately 4:55 p.m., when Troopers were dispatched to the 16000 block of  Derby Drive, Lewes for a report of a burglary in progress.  The homeowners, who were not home at the time, advised that there were subjects that they did not know in their residence.  Upon arrival, two subjects were observed in the garage of the residence, and a third individual was seated in a 2008 Honda Odyssey van that was parked in the garage.

The subjects resisted arrest and failed to comply with officers’ commands as they were attempting to place them into custody.  Subsequently they were taken into custody without further incident.  Further investigation revealed that the suspects, identified as 46-year-old Ray Pollard and his wife 42-year-old Michelle Pollard of Dagsboro, DE, with their 16-year-old child, had broken into the residence with the intention of staying there.  The van that was located parked in the garage belonged to the suspects.

Ray and Michelle Pollard were transported back to Troop 7 where they were charged with the following:

  • Burglary Second Degree
  • Conspiracy Second Degree
  • Endangering the Welfare of a Child
  • Resisting Arrest
  • Criminal Mischief

Both were arraigned before the Justice of the Peace Court and released on $6600.00 unsecured bond.
