Troopers Make Arrest in Tuesday Morning Bank Robbery – New Castle

New Castle – The Delaware State Police have arrested 49 year old Jeffrey B. Lagasse of New Castle, in connection with the robbery of a Minquadale area credit union that occurred Tuesday morning.

The incident occurred at approximately 9:32 a.m., Tuesday, October 15, 2019 at the Alliance Federal Credit Union, located at 2320 N. DuPont Hwy., New Castle. A male suspect, later identified as Lagasse, who had his face concealed, approached a teller and demanded cash, while implying that he had a weapon. The victim complied with the demand and turned over an undisclosed amount of cash to the suspect who then fled in an unknown direction. The victim was not injured as a result of the incident.

Investigative measures conducted by the first responding Troopers led to the development of Lagasse as a suspect in the robbery. Through further investigation by Troop 2 Robbery Unit detectives, Lagasse was positively identified as the suspect. At approximately 4:30 p.m., Lagasse was observed in a vehicle in the parking lot of the Wilton Blvd. Wal-Mart, where he was taken in to custody without incident by members of the Delaware State Police Special Operations Response Team (SORT).

A subsequent search of Lagasse’s Juniper St. residence, resulted in the recovery of evidence further linking him to the robbery.

Lagasse was arraigned in the Justice of the Peace Court #2 on one count each of Robbery 2nd Degree and Wearing a Disguise during the Commission of a Felony and then committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $12,000.00 cash bail.
