Delaware Troopers Apprehend Fugitive From Florida – Lewes

Lewes, Delaware – The Delaware State Police have arrested a fugitive from Florida who was wanted on multiple felony charges.

On July 11, 2019, an investigation was initiated by the Troop 7 PACE Team into the illegal drug sales from a residence in the 22,000 block of Magnolia Drive North, Lewes. It was also learned the suspect in this investigation was identified as Rashad Sharp, 28-year-old, who was staying at this residence. A computer inquiry of Rashad Sharp was conducted and it was determined that he had a warrant issued by the Dewey Beach Alderman Court for Offensive Touching. Rashad Sharp was found to also have a criminal warrant issued by the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office, Flordia for the Distribution of Cocaine, Possession of Cocaine with the Intent to Sell and Possession of Cocaine. A bench warrant was issued by the Brevard County Court for Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, Discharging a Firearm from a Vehicle, Fleeing from Police, Aggravated Assault with a Firearm, Resisting Arrest and Leaving the Scene of a Property Damage Accident.

On July 12, 2019, the Delaware State Police Governor’s Task Force, Probation and Parole and Troop 7 PACE (Proactive Criminal Enforcement Team) with the assistance of the Sussex Drug Unit responded to the residence and were able to take Rashad Sharp into custody without incident. Drug paraphernalia was located in plain view along with crack cocaine residue which tested positive for cocaine. The Sussex Drug Unit assisted PACE with the execution of the search warrant of the residence and two vehicles. The search warrant revealed approximately 8.2 grams of cocaine and $140.00 dollars in suspected drug proceeds were located.

Rashad Sharp was transported back to Troop 7, Lewes where he was given additional charges for Possession of Cocaine in a Tier 1 quantity, Possession with the Intent to Deliver Cocaine, Drug Paraphernalia and Out of State Fugitive.

Rashad Sharp was arraigned before the Justice of the Peace Court and committed to the Sussex Correctional Institute in default of  $9,500.00 cash bond.
