Troopers Arrest Two for Multiple Thefts From Motor Vehicles- Ocean View

Ocean View–  The Delaware State Police have arrested two suspects in connection with multiple thefts from motor vehicles.

Troopers responded to the Bay Forest community off of White Neck Road, Ocean View, in reference to multiple thefts from motor vehicle complaints occurring overnight between June 22 and June 25, 2019.  Items including cash, credit cards, prescriptions and electronics were reported stolen from inside of the vehicles.  Troopers were able to identify the suspects has 35-year-old Megan Parsons of Dagsboro and 35-year-old Harold H Riley of Rehoboth Beach after they utilized a stolen credit card at the Ocean View Royal Farms.

On June 27, 2019, members of the Troop 4 Property Crimes Unit responded to Parsons’ residence located in the 30000 block of Track Lane, Dagsboro.  Both Parsons and Riley were located at the residence and taken into custody without incident.  A search of the residence was conducted and resulted in the recovery of some of the property that was stolen from the vehicles.  It was learned that additional stolen property had been sold at a local pawn shop.

Parsons and Riley were transported back to Troop 4 where they were charged with the following:

  • Identity Theft (2 counts)
  • Theft (Felony)
  • Possession of a Controlled Substance by Theft
  • Conspiracy Second Degree (3 counts)
  • Theft (2 counts)
  • Unlawful Use of Payment Card (2 counts)
  • Theft By False Pretense
  • Falsifying Business Records
  • Selling Stolen Property
  • Criminal Trespass (3 counts)

Parsons was arraigned before the Justice of the Peace Court and released on $20,503.00 unsecured bond.

Riley was arraigned before the Justice of the Peace Court and received $20,503.00 unsecured bond, however was committed to the Sussex Community Correctional Center on $5,000.00 secured bond for Violation of Probation.
