Crash Victim Succumbs To Injuries – Bear, Delaware

Bear, Delaware – On Sunday, June 9, 2018 at approximately 3:32 p.m., troopers responded to the area of Salem Church Road northbound south of Bradley Drive for the report of a two-vehicle crash. The initial investigation determined that a 2016 Honda Civic, operated by a 54-year-old male of Newark, was traveling northbound on Salem Church Road in the right lane. A 2009 Chevrolet Malibu, operated by an 85-year-old was parked on the northbound right shoulder of Salem Church Road.  As the Honda Civic continued northbound the Chevy Malibu merged into the right lane causing its front left to collide with the Civic’s front right side.

Wayne A. Beemler, 85-year-old and the operator of the 2009 Chevrolet Malibu, sustained injuries and was removed from the scene by EMS and transported to Christiana Hospital. He was cited for Inattentive Driving. This operator was admitted to the Christiana Hospital ICU.  He succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased on June 11, 2019.

The operator of the Honda Civic sustained non-life threatening injuries and was removed from the scene by EMS and transported to the Christiana Hospital for treatment.
