Troopers Arrest Bear Juvenile for Theft of Vehicle-Wilmington

Wilmington (19801)- The Delaware State Police have arrested a Bear juvenile in connection with the theft of a motor vehicle and resisting arrest.

The incident occurred on June 7, 2019 at approximately 12:56 a.m., when a Trooper observed a dark in color Honda Accord stopped in the middle of the roadway on Garasches Lane with no head lights on.  As the Trooper approached the driver, identified as 15-year-old Nicholas Bell, he noticed that he appeared very young.  When the Trooper asked Bell if he had a driver’s license, Bell indicated that he did not.

As the Trooper asked Bell to exit the vehicle, Bell proceeded to take off on foot and a foot pursuit ensued.  Bell was subsequently apprehended shorty thereafter.  Further investigation revealed that Bell had stolen the vehicle from a residence on Garasches Lane and the owner was unaware at this time that his vehicle was missing.

Bell was transported back to Troop 2 where he was charged with the following:

  • Theft of a Motor Vehicle (Felony)
  • Resisting Arrest

Bell was arraigned before the Justice of the Peace Court and released to a guardian on $2500.00 unsecured bond.

The vehicle was returned back to it’s owner undamaged.
