Troopers Arrest Felton Man After Vehicle Pursuit-Frederica

Frederica- The Delaware State Police have arrested a Felton man after a vehicle pursuit led to the discovery of drugs.

The incident occurred on June 5, 2019 at approximately 12:40 a.m., when a Trooper observed the operator of a black Nissan Sentra on their cell phone while traveling on Clapham Road, Frederica.  A traffic stop was initiated when the driver refused to stop and led police on a pursuit while committing several traffic violations including reckless and aggressive driving.

The vehicle eventually came to a stop on northbound Route 1.  Troopers made contact with the driver, identified as 28-year-old Taquion A. Turner, who was taken into custody without further incident.  A search of the vehicle was conducted and the following was recovered:

  • Approximately 19.79 grams of marijuana
  • Approximately 2.28 grams of THC edibles
  • Drug paraphernalia

Troopers also located approximately 8.01 grams of crack cocaine that had been thrown out of the vehicle’s window by Turner during the pursuit.

Turner was transported back to Troop 3 where he was charged with the following:

  • Possession of  a Controlled Substance in a Tier 1 Quantity
  • Tampering With Physical Evidence
  • Disregarding a Police Officer Signal
  • Driving While Suspended or Revoked
  • Reckless Driving
  • Aggressive Driving
  • Other Traffic Violations

Turner was arraigned before the Justice of the Peace Court and released on his own recognizance.
