Traffic Stop Leads to Drug Arrest-Bridgeville

Bridgeville- The Delaware State Police have arrested a Rehoboth Beach man after a traffic stop led to the discovery of drugs.

On April 23, 2019 at approximately 9:58 p.m., members of the Governor’s Task Force (GTF) were patrolling the Coverdale area.  A silver Hyundai Sonata traveling southbound on Coverdale Road in the area of Mill Park Drive, was heard playing loud music.  A traffic stop was initiated and contact was made with the driver, 25-year-old Malik T. Jarvis, when marijuana was detected inside the vehicle.

A subsequent search of the vehicle was conducted and resulted in the seizure of a plastic container containing approximately 443.10 grams of marijuana along with over $900.00 in suspected drug proceeds.

Jarvis was taken into custody without incident and transported back to Troop 4 where he was charged with the following:

  • Possession With Intent to Deliver a Controlled Substance
  • Possession of a Controlled Substance in a Tier 1 quantity
  • Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (2 counts)
  • Fictitious or Cancelled Registration Card
  • Operation of an Unregistered Motor Vehicle
  • Loud Music or Noise which is plainly audible from a distance of 50 ft.

Jarvis was arraigned before the Justice of the Peace Court and released on $7,604.00 unsecured bond.
