Lewes- The Delaware State Police have arrested a Lewes man after he was found to be operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol for the 6th time.
The incident occurred on March 23, 2019 at approximately 7:32 p.m., when Troopers were dispatched to an accident in the area of Savannah Road and Coastal Highway. Upon arrival, Troopers discovered that two vehicles, a gray Chevrolet Silverado and a Honda Accord had been involved in a crash. Further investigation revealed that the Silverado had struck the rear of the Accord. Upon contact with the driver of the Silverado, 63-year-old John E. Trala, an odor of alcohol was detected and a DUI investigation ensued.
The operator of the Accord, a 74-year-old male from Newtown Square, PA was not injured.
Trala was taken into custody without incident and transported back to Troop 7. A computer check revealed that Trala had five previous DUI convictions, making this his 6th arrest. Trala was charged with the following:
He was arraigned before the Justice of the Peace Court and committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution on $10,500.00 cash only bond.
