Millsboro- The Delaware State Police have arrested a Dagsboro man after a traffic stop led to the discovery of drugs.
The incident occurred on March 12, 2019 at approximately 6:46 p.m., when Troopers observed an equipment violation on a tan in color Mercedes Benz that was traveling northbound on Long Neck Road. A traffic stop was initiated and upon approach, Troopers detected a strong odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. The driver, identified as 28-year-old Kevin D. Handy Jr. was found to have a suspended license. A search led to the discovery of the following:
- 377 bags of heroin (approximately 2.639 grams)
- 3.67 grams of cocaine
- 3.84 grams of marijuana
- Over $300.00 in suspected drug proceeds
- Drug paraphernalia
Handy was taken into custody without incident and transported back to Troop 7 where he was charged with the following:
- Possession With Intent to Deliver a controlled substance in a Tier 2 quantity
- Possession With Intent to Deliver a controlled substance
- Possession of a controlled substance in a Tier 2 quantity
- Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (2 counts)
- Driving While Suspended
- Possession of Marijuana Personal Use
- Improper Tail Lights
Handy was arraigned before the Justice of the Peace Court and committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution on $51,502.00 secured bond.
