Date Posted: Saturday, February 16th, 2019

Harrington– The Delaware State Police are continuing to conduct an investigation into a homicide that occurred at an apartment in Harrington.

On February 14, 2019 at approximately 11:40 p.m. the Harrington Police Department responded to an apartment in the 8700 block of Park Brown Road.  Upon arrival, a victim was located at the base of the interior staircase suffering from a gunshot wound to his torso.  The victim, identified as 24-year-old Donte Demunguia from Absecon, NJ was transported to the Milford Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

At the request of the Harrington Police Department, the Delaware State Police Homicide Unit assumed the investigation.  Further investigation into this incident revealed that a second victim, a 24-year-old resident of the apartment was home at the time with an acquaintance, later identified as 25-year-old Devon Emfinger of Aberdeen, MD.  While the resident and Emfinger were on the second floor of the apartment, they heard someone enter the front door.  The female resident went downstairs when she was confronted with her ex-boyfriend Donte Demunguia.  Demunguia proceeded up the stairs when he was subsequently shot in the torso.  The female resident was not injured.

On February 15, 2019 Emfinger turned himself in at Troop 3 where he was charged with Reckless Endangering 1st Degree and Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony. He was arraigned before the Justice of the Peace Court 3 and received a $22,500.00 secured bond.

This case continues to remain under investigation by the Delaware State Police Homicide Unit.
