Date Posted: Sunday, January 6th, 2019

Frederica- The Delaware State Police have arrested a Felton man after he was found to be under the influence and in possession of a stolen firearm early this morning.

The incident occurred on January 6, 2019 at approximately 2:15 a.m. when Troopers were dispatched to the unit block of Third Street, in reference to a report of a domestic.  Prior to arriving at the residence, Troopers were advised that one subject had fled the scene in a white Audi.  A vehicle matching this description was observed leaving the High Point Park neighborhood traveling on Buffalo Road.  A traffic stop was initiated and contact was made with the driver, 20-year-old William H. Cloak 4th of Felton.  Upon contact with Cloak, a strong odor of marijuana was detected.  A search of the vehicle was conducted and a Glock .40 caliber handgun was discovered under the driver’s seat. The handgun’s serial number appeared to be obliterated.  A computer inquiry revealed that Cloak was a person prohibited from carrying a firearm.  It was also discovered that the firearm had been reported stolen.

Cloak was taken into custody without incident and transported back to Troop 3 where a DUI investigation ensued.

Cloak was charged with the following:

  • Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony
  • Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited
  • Possession of a Weapon with a Obliterated or Altered Serial Number
  • Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon
  • Receiving a Stolen Firearm
  • Driving While Suspended or Revoked
  • Driving a Vehicle Under the Influence of Drugs

Cloak was arraigned before the Justice of the Peace Court 7 and committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution on $16,700.00 secured bond.
