Troopers Investigating Shots Fired Incident – Seaford

Seaford – The Delaware State Police are investigating a shots fired incident that took place in Seaford Saturday evening.

At approximately 6:59 p.m., Saturday, December 29, 2018, Troopers responded to the 26000 block of Bethel Concord Rd. in Seaford, for the report of gunshots being heard in the area. The investigation determined that the exterior of an unoccupied residence had sustained damage as a result of multiple gunshots. An unknown make and model vehicle was seen fleeing the area at the time the shots were heard.

Delmar – The Delaware State Police have identified Brandon W. Kennedy, 33, of Delmar as the pedestrian who was struck and killed in a vehicle crash that occurred at approximately 12:16 a.m., Saturday, December 29, 2018, on northbound Sussex Hwy. (U.S. 13), north of Line Rd. in Delmar.

Troopers Investigating Fatal Pedestrian Crash – Delmar

Delmar – The Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit is investigating a fatal motor vehicle crash involving a pedestrian that occurred overnight in Delmar.

The initial investigation has determined that at approximately 12:16 a.m., Saturday, December 29, 2018, a 2018 Honda Accord, driven by a 45 year old Seaford man was traveling northbound on Sussex Hwy. (U.S. 13) in the left lane, north of Line Rd. A 33 year old Delmar man, who was on foot attempting to cross Sussex Hwy. in a westerly direction, proceeded directly into the path of the Honda at which time he was struck by the front left bumper. After being thrown onto the hood of the vehicle the pedestrian came to rest in the grass median of Sussex Hwy. The Honda continued northbound for a short distance before coming to a stop in the grass median. There are no crosswalks in the area where the collision took place.

The pedestrian, who was wearing dark clothing and not carrying a light was transported to Peninsula Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced deceased. Impairment on his behalf is undetermined at this time. Identification is pending notification of next of kin.

The driver of the Honda was properly restrained and was not injured. Impairment is not a factor on his behalf.

The northbound lanes of Sussex Hwy. were closed for approximately 3.5 hours while the scene was investigated and cleared.

Troopers Investigating Report of Shots Fired-Camden-Wyoming

Camden-Wyoming- The Delaware State Police investigated a report of shots being fired at a vehicle yesterday morning.

The incident occurred on December 27, 2018 at approximately 8:32 a.m. when Troopers were dispatched to the 500 block of Cow Marsh Creek Road in reference to a report of occupants in the residence shooting at a vehicle that was fleeing from the residence.  Upon arrival, Troopers made contact with the occupants inside the residence whom denied discharging a firearm.  It was learned that two of the occupants were actively on probation.

The Criminal Investigations Unit with the assistance of the Evidence Detection Unit and Probation and Parole obtained a search warrant for the residence.  Upon execution of the warrant, no firearms or ammunition was located.  Additionally, no shell casings, damaged property, or other physical evidence was discovered to substantiate a shooting.

Troopers Attempting to Locate Assault Suspect – New Castle

New Castle – The Delaware State Police are attempting to locate Tyler Deberry, 22, of Newark who is wanted on domestic related assault charges.

The incident occurred at approximately 11:23 p.m., Sunday, December 23, 2018 in a motel room at the Superlodge, located at 1213 West Avenue, New Castle. Deberry became involved in a verbal altercation with a 22 year old female acquaintance which escalated when Deberry proceeded to physically assault her. During the course of the assault Deberry also prevented the victim from leaving the room. Deberry eventually left the room and fled in an unknown direction. The victim was treated at an area hospital for injuries sustained during the incident.

Warrants are on file charging Deberry with the following;

  • Strangulation
  • Unlawful Imprisonment 2nd Degree
  • Assault 3rd Degree
  • Terroristic Threatening

Troopers Seek Public’s Assistance in Locating Wanted Suspect-Rehoboth Beach

Rehoboth Beach- The Delaware State Police are seeking the public’s assistance in attempting to locate the pictured suspect who is wanted in connection with a domestic related incident.

The incident occurred on December 18, 2018 at approximately 9:21 p.m. when Troopers responded to the unit block of Stephanie Court, Henlopen Keys in reference to a physical domestic.  Further investigation revealed that a verbal domestic between 49-year-old Christopher O. Allen of Rehoboth Beach and his 47-year-old girlfriend had turned physical.  During this incident, the victim’s 27-year-old son was also present.  Allen had pulled out a hunting knife and threatened the 27-year-old.  Prior to Allen fleeing the residence he took a gift card that belonged to his girlfriend.

Allen currently has active warrants out of Troop 7 for the following:

  • Possession of a Deadly Weapon During the Commission of a Felony
  • Aggravated Menacing (Felony)
  • Terroristic Threatening
  • Theft Under $1500
  • Offensive Touching

Troopers Investigating Rash of Vehicle Break-Ins-Kent County

Kent County- The Delaware State Police have recently taken several complaints where vehicle windows have been smashed and items taken from within.

The incidents began in early November 2018 when Troopers began receiving reports of vehicles being broken into by the suspect(s) smashing out their windows.  The State Police have handled 5 similar incidences occurring at the Delaware Turf, The Bridge Radio Station, Wild Quail, Brown Branch County Park, and the Calvary Church in Dover.

The incidents reported appear to be connected.  Several witnesses and surveillance have reported seeing a white Dodge Charger/Chrysler 300 flee the area after each incident.

On November 9, 2018 a credit card was stolen from one of the vehicle break-ins in the Browns Branch Country Park and utilized by the pictured suspect at the Milford Walmart shortly after.

Troopers Investigating Bank Robbery – Newark

Newark – The Delaware State Police are investigating a robbery at the WSFS bank, located inside the Peoples Plaza Safeway grocery store that took place Wednesday afternoon.

The incident occurred at approximately 12:36 p.m., Wednesday, December 26, 2018, at the WSFS branch, located inside the Safeway, at 2400 Peoples Plaza, Newark. The pictured suspect approached the counter, announced “this is a robbery” and demanded money from two separate tellers. Both employees complied with the demand and turned over an undisclosed amount of money to the suspect who then fled in an unknown direction. Neither employee were injured as a result of the incident.

The suspect was described as a black male, 35-40 years of age, 5’9”-6’00” tall, wearing a black knit cap, dark wired sunglasses, green jacket and denim jeans.

*UPDATE #2-Public’s Help Requested* Troopers Investigating Fatal Hit and Run Pedestrian Crash- Wilmington

Wilmington – The Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit is continuing to investigate a fatal hit and run crash involving a pedestrian that occurred on December 24, 2018 on DE 141 (Centre Rd.) in the area of DE 48 (Lancaster Pike), and are asking for the public’s help in locating the fleeing vehicle.

Further investigation has determined that parts belonging to the fleeing vehicle, which were collected at the scene of the crash, were to a 2011-2017 Mazda 3 sedan. Also collected on scene was the above pictured emblem. Due to it’s distinct nature, Troopers are hopeful that someone will recognize it and be able to provide further investigative leads.
