New Castle: The Delaware State Police have identified and charged two Maryland men in connection with an overnight burglary spree that took place in August, 2018.

On Sunday, August 19, 2018 between the hours of 3:07 a.m. and 3:26 a.m., Troopers handled a total of five burglaries to businesses on Naamans Road in Wilmington.  A sixth burglary occurred just over an hour later at approximately 4:44 a.m. in the Newark area. Through a variety of investigative measures and leads, detectives were able to positively identify and link Anthony Smith, 32 of Bowie, MD and Stefon Janey, 26 of Upper Marlboro MD, to all six burglaries.

During the course of the burglary investigation detectives obtained evidence which also linked Smith and Janey to three incidents that occurred in May 2018 which were being investigated by the Delaware State Police Drug Diversion Unit. In these incidents Smith and Janey were able to make access to the pharmacies at three Acme grocery stores located in New Castle County, during normal business hours, and make off with prescription medications.
