Troopers Arrest Lincoln Man for Kidnapping and Assault-Lincoln

Lincoln-  The Delaware State Police have arrested a Lincoln man for assault and other related charges after holding his girlfriend and their 1 year-old child against their will.

The incident occurred on Sunday, December 2, 2018 when Troopers were dispatched to the 8700 block of West Clogg Drive for a domestic.  Upon arrival, a female was able to escape through the entry door to the residence.  The female advised that her boyfriend, 32-year old Emmanuel Vazquez-Gomez was armed with a knife and inside the residence with their 1-year-old child.

Troopers attempted to have Vazquez-Gomez exit the residence at which time he refused. Subsequently Vazquez-Gomez surrendered and was taken into custody without incident.

It was learned that Vazquez-Gomez had threatened to kill the victim and held her and their son against their will for most of the day.  The victim sustained multiple injuries including several cuts from knives.

The victim was transported to a local area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.  The child did not sustain any injuries.

Vazquez-Gomez was transported back to Troop 4 where he was charged with the following:

  • Kidnapping First Degree (2 counts)
  • Assault First Degree (2 counts)
  • Possession of a Deadly Weapon During the Commission of a Felony
  • Endangering the Welfare of a Child
  • Resisting Arrest

Vazquez-Gomez was arraigned before the Justice of the Peace Court 3 and committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution on $157,000.00 secured bond.
