Troopers Arrest Lewes Woman For Assault on a Law Enforcement Officer-Lewes

Lewes- The Delaware State Police have arrested a Lewes woman for an assault on a Law Enforcement Officer, Resisting Arrest and other related charges.

The incident occurred at approximately 7:35 p.m., on Sunday, October 21, 2018 when Troopers were dispatched to the Wawa located at 17663 Dartmouth Drive, for a female subject being disorderly.  Upon arrival, the Trooper located the female subject who proceeded to take off on foot.  As the Trooper was attempting to detain the suspect, 37-year-old Dawn Baker, she began resisting and striking the Trooper.

It was learned that Baker was asking customers for gas money and when they declined, she became disorderly and began using profane language towards them.

Baker was subsequently taken into custody and arrested.  The Trooper sustained minor injures and damage to her equipment.  The Trooper did not require medical treatment.

Baker was transported back to Troop 7 where she was charged with the following:

  • Assault 2nd Injure a Law Enforcement Officer
  • Resisting Arrest
  • Failure to Comply with Taking of Photos and Fingerprints
  • Criminal Mischief
  • Disorderly Conduct
  • Loitering

Baker was arraigned before the Justice of the Peace Court 3 and committed to the Delores J. Baylor Women’s Correctional Institution on $6,602.00 secured bond.
