Traffic Stop Leads to Discovery of One Pot Meth Lab-Dover

Dover- Delaware State Police have arrested a Middletown man after a traffic stop led to the discovery of a “one pot” meth lab.

On Monday, July 30, 2018 at approximately 1:22 a.m., a Trooper observed a bronze in color truck make an improper lane change while traveling on North Dupont Highway (Rt. 13) and a traffic stop was initiated.  Upon contact with the driver, and sole occupant, 28 year-old Richard H. Janvier III, it was discovered that Janvier’s license was suspended and the vehicle did not have insurance.

As a search of the vehicle was being conducted, Troopers discovered drug paraphernalia, began to small a chemical odor, and located methamphetamine as well as a suspected“one pot” meth bottle.   The Kent County Drug Unit and the Delaware Department of Natural Recourses responded to assist with the investigation.

A search of Janvier’s vehicle revealed the following:

  • .95 grams Meth
  • “One Pot” Meth bottle
  • Other components to manufacture Meth

Due to the hazardous and combustible nature of the materials used in this process, northbound Rt. 13 was shut down for approximately 1.5 hours.  The one pot meth lab was subsequently rendered safe without incident.

Janvier was transported back to Troop 3 where he was charged Possession of a Controlled Substance (meth), Unlawful to Knowingly Operate or Attempt to Operate a Clandestine Laboratory (one pot meth lab), and several traffic violations.  He was arraigned before the Justice of the Peace Court 7 and released after posting $3,500.00 secured bond.
