Wilmington (19802) – Delaware State Police have arrested a Wilmington woman for a strong armed robbery, that took place at a North Wilmington grocery store, yesterday afternoon.
The incident occurred at approximately 3:44 p.m., Wednesday, April 11, 2018, at the Food Lion, located at 4401 Governor Printz Boulevard, Wilmington.
A 70 year old Wilmington woman, had just taken possession of an undisclosed amount of cash, after completing a wire transfer transaction at a teller window inside the Food Lion. Immediately after taking possession of the money, a suspect, later identified as Jessica M. Vandegrift, 32, of Wilmington, grabbed the money from the victim’s grasp and fled the store on foot.
Vandegrift was detained in the parking lot by bystanders before being taken in to custody by responding Troopers. The victim’s money was recovered and she was not injured as a result of the incident.
Vandegrift was transported to Troop 1 where she arrested and charged with one count of Robbery 1st Degree. She was then arraigned in the New Castle County Court of Common Pleas before being released on $20,000.00 unsecured bond.
