Troopers Arrest Man Following Bank Robbery-Wilmington

Wilmington (19808) – The Delaware State Police have arrested a Wilmington man and charged him in connection with the robbery of a Wilmington area bank that occurred last month.

The investigation has determined the incident occurred on Saturday, January 20, 2018 at approximately 9:45 a.m. as a male suspect entered the Wells Fargo Bank located at 3215 Old Capital Trail, Wilmington. The investigation revealed that an unknown white male entered the bank wearing a disguise and demanded money from the tellers. The tellers complied turning over an undisclosed amount of money to him. After the robbery, the suspect was observed fleeing in a dark-colored Jeep Grand Cherokee onto Kirkwood Highway in unknown direction. There were no injuries.

As the investigation continued detectives located the suspect vehicle on February 15, 2018 in the parking lot of a motel in Smyrna. The next day the suspect was seen leaving the motel and was stopped by troopers. The suspect was identified as Douglas W. Walker, 39 of Wilmington. After obtaining a search warrant for the suspect’s vehicle evidence linking him to the robbery was located inside the vehicle.

Douglas W. Walker was transported to Troop 2 and was charged with two counts of Robbery 2nd Degree and two counts of Wearing a Disguise during the Commission of a Felony. He was arraigned before the Justice of the Peace Court 2 and was committed to Howard R. Young Correctional Institution in default of $24,000.00 cash bond.
