Troopers Investigating Robbery of Naamans Road Wawa

Wilmington – Delaware State Police are investigating the robbery of a Naaman’s Road Wawa, in which the suspect was armed with pepper spray.

The incident occurred at approximately 11:14 p.m., Tuesday, January 2, 2018, at the Wawa, located at 3448 Naamans’s Road, Wilmington, as a black male suspect entered the store and approached the sales counter to make a purchase. After realizing that he didn’t have enough money for the selected items he exited the store, leaving the merchandise behind.

A short time later the same suspect re-entered the store and again attempted to purchase the items. As the clerk opened the register to complete the transaction, the suspect sprayed him with pepper spray. The suspect then reached into the register and removed an undisclosed amount of money, before fleeing on foot.

The 21 year old employee was treated at an area hospital for injuries resulting from the incident.

The suspect was described as a black male, 22-24 years of age, 5’8”, 160-170 lbs, wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, dark pants and a scarf covering the lower portion of his face.
